The engineering practices are centered around the following principles:
- I focus on problem solving and improvement
- I spend time with all the stakeholders to ensure quality work
- I speak to the customer in his/her own language
Key Engineering Practices- Engineers are expensive. Don't waste their time on:
- ordering parts (other than engineered equipment)
- overseeing jobs (repairs)
- counting costs
- Demand practical, cost-effective solutions.
- Set expectations up front (“We can afford to spend $100k to make this problem go away, otherwise we will live with it.)
- Force engineers into the field (interact with process and maintenance)
- Make design an interactive process with mechanical and process.
