Training and Competency

The training and competency practices are centered around the following principles:



Key Training & Competency Practices

  • Make sure all training includes demonstrating competence

  • Define key positions and key skills required to be competent in those positions

  • Assess your current skill base on your key positions

  • Develop your training to close gaps

  • Develop a long term succession plan for key positions (have a qualified backfill for every key position)

  • Try to distribute competency as evenly as possible across production shifts and repair crews.
